How we compare
This page explains what you can rely on, what you cannot, and how the rules work. It describes the site as it is built, not plans for the future.
What we include
We list a small number of AI products for everyday tasks, grouped by type (general assistant, research, image creation, coding). A tool is published only when its name, provider and official website are confirmed from an official source. Tools in different groups are never put in the same comparison table, because their features are not comparable.
Products, models and plans are kept apart
We compare products: the app or service you use. A product can use several AI models, and the same model can appear in several products. Features and limits often depend on the plan (free, paid, team) and the country. That is why each fact says which plans and entry points it applies to. A fact with no plan information is never shown as “included in the free plan”.
Four kinds of information
- Official facts: a specific field confirmed from the provider's own pages, with the page, the conditions and the date we checked it.
- Editor's suggestions: our judgement about which tasks to try, always with the facts it is based on. Marked as a suggestion.
- Third-party tests: not used for tool data in this version. Some glossary entries link to an independent evaluator's methodology for background.
- Our own tests: we have not run any, so we never use that label.
There are no scores, star ratings, rankings, user counts or reviews on this site.
What counts as a confirmed fact
- It comes from an official page that directly states it. A homepage only confirms identity, not features.
- We record a short quote from the page and check by script that the quote is on the live page. If we cannot confirm it, the field stays “Not yet confirmed”.
- “Not yet confirmed” means we do not know. It never means “not supported” or “free”.
- Announced or preview features are shown as announced, not as supported.
- Prices keep the original currency, billing period and tax status. We do not convert currencies or rank by price.
- Chinese input means the source names Chinese as a supported language. It says nothing about quality.
How long a fact stays current
Facts are re-checked on a schedule. After that, they are shown as “Needs re-check” with the date last confirmed.
- Prices, free plans, plan details and regional availability: 30 days
- Features and platforms: 60 days
- Privacy and data-use descriptions: 180 days
This is evaluated with the current date in your browser, so a page does not keep showing old facts as current. Facts that need re-checking do not count for “verified” filters or for requirements in Help me choose.
Fields we compare
- Free plan (General assistant, Research, Image creation, Coding): A free plan that is not time-limited. Trials are listed separately.
- Chinese input (General assistant, Research, Image creation, Coding): The official source says Chinese is supported as an input language. This is not a quality rating.
- File upload (General assistant, Research): You can give it files such as PDFs or documents.
- Image input (General assistant): You can give it an image to describe or analyse.
- Web search (General assistant): It can search the web while answering.
- Traceable citations (Research): Answers link to the specific sources they rely on.
- Search scope (Research): What it searches: the open web, academic papers, or both.
- Image generation (Image creation): Creates new images from a text description.
- Image editing (Image creation): Changes part of an existing image.
- Reference image (Image creation): Uses an image you provide to guide style or content.
- Code completion (Coding): Suggests code as you type.
- Repository context (Coding): Can read across your project, not only the open file.
- How it runs (Coding): Where you use it, for example a desktop editor, a command line, or a cloud agent.
- Export formats (Research, Image creation): File formats you can download results in.
- Platforms (General assistant, Research, Image creation, Coding): Where the product is offered: web, desktop app, mobile app, or editor extension.
- Account (General assistant, Research, Image creation, Coding): Whether you need to sign up before using it.
- Where it is available (General assistant, Research, Image creation, Coding): Countries or regions where the provider says it can be used.
How Help me choose works
Rules version: recommendation-v1. No AI model is used and your answers are not stored.
- Your task decides the tool type: writing, learning and office work use general assistants; research, images and coding use their own types.
- Requirements are: a verified free plan (if you ask for one), any capability you mark “must have”, and the web version if you mark it as required. Everything else is a preference.
- A tool is a match only if one single plan meets every requirement on a compatible entry point (for example, a feature only in the desktop app does not satisfy “must work on the web”), based on facts that are confirmed and current.
- Trials never count as a free plan. Announced features never count.
- If a requirement is unknown or needs re-checking, the tool goes to “Might fit, but not yet confirmed”, never into the matches.
- Matches are ordered by how many of your preferences are confirmed on the same plan, then by name. Without requirements, tools are listed by name.
- We show at most three matches and three unconfirmed candidates. If nothing matches, we say which requirement blocked it. We never relax your requirements.
- We do not know where you are, so regional availability is always listed as something to check.
Money and independence
